Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE)

The total calories you burn in a typical day — basal metabolism plus activity.

TDEE is computed as BMR (basal metabolic rate, the calories you'd burn at rest) multiplied by an activity factor that captures how much you move during a typical day.

TDEE sets the baseline for any nutrition target: eat below it to lose weight, at it to maintain, above it to gain. Common splits then assign macronutrients (protein, carbs, fat) as percentages of that calorie target.
