How NAV-based returns work

When you invest ₹X at NAV N₁, you receive X / N₁ units. On any future date the value is units × N_current. The gain is (current value − invested). Absolute return is gain / invested. CAGR annualises the absolute return over the holding period:CAGR = (current/invested)1/years − 1.
